Off-roading is the closest thing I know to total freedom: a capable vehicle and a line across terrain that no road reaches.
I read the ground one obstacle at a time, tyre placement and momentum over brute force. Reaching a place under your own traction, where nothing else goes, is the whole reward.
What the discipline teaches: picking a viable line, judging what a vehicle and a crew can actually clear, and planning the approach to a hard-to-reach location.
Where and how
Private and authorised ground, forest tracks where driving is allowed. Off-road stays on terrain that permits it, never across protected nature.
